Inflationary games: Monopoly (collect $200 as you pass "Go".)
Strategy: Go into debt, leverage up the max, and hope it all works out.
Unsurprisingly, it was invented in the go-go years before the Roaring 20's.
Deflationary games: Risk (saving cards gives you more armies.)
Strategy: Save cards, beat up the weaker players, and collect their cards (at steep discounts.)
Unsurprisingly, it was invented in the deflationary 50's.
The game designers are but the product of their times.
This is too geeky (at so many different levels) but it had to be said.
